Rugby Union Community Grade

The Perth Rams play alongside the Curtin Goats Rugby club which is a grassroots rugby club based in Perth, Western Australia, offering a welcoming and inclusive environment for players of all abilities. The Perth Rams are well-known for their strong community focus and commitment to developing new players. Playing in the Community Grade provides an opportunity for players to participate in competitive rugby without the pressure of top-tier performance. This grade is designed for both beginners and experienced players looking to enjoy the sport, improve their skills, and be part of a supportive team culture. The Rams emphasise the values of teamwork, respect, and sportsmanship, making it an ideal environment for you to develop both as an athlete and as part of the wider community.

RUGBY UNION ACADEMY

The Perth Rams Rugby Academy's 6-week course is tailored for individuals who are new to rugby and want to learn the basics of the sport in a structured and supportive environment. This course is perfect for those with no prior experience, providing an introduction to rugby’s fundamental skills such as passing, tackling, and game strategy. Over the six weeks, you will be coached by some of our more experienced rugby players and coaches, who focus on building confidence, improving fitness, and understanding the core principles of the game. The academy aims to create a fun and engaging atmosphere, helping you to develop a love for the sport while laying the foundation for future involvement, whether you wish to continue in recreational play or progress to more competitive levels.

Non-Contact

At the Perth Rams Rugby Club, we offer a range of non-contact rugby options that cater to players of all ages and skill levels, providing a fun and safe way to get involved in the sport. Whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced player looking for a less physical version of rugby, our Tri-Tag and Touch Rugby programs are perfect for you.

Tri-Tag Rugby is a fast-paced game where players wear tags (velcro strips) on their shorts, and the objective is for the defending team to remove the tag to simulate a tackle. This non-contact format keeps the game exciting and allows participants to develop key rugby skills like passing, evasion, and strategic play without the risk of physical impact.

Similarly, Touch Rugby is a dynamic version of rugby where the game is played by "touching" an opponent, rather than tackling them. It focuses on agility, speed, and teamwork, with an emphasis on fitness and skill development. Like Tri-Tag, Touch Rugby eliminates contact but still provides all the thrills of the game, including fast ball movement and quick decision-making.

The Perth Rams offer both Tri-Tag and Touch Rugby as inclusive, community-oriented programs. These options are ideal for anyone looking for a social and active way to experience rugby, whether you're playing for fun, fitness, or competition. Both formats are great stepping stones for those interested in transitioning to full-contact rugby or simply enjoying a more relaxed version of the sport.

With teams for all levels and mixed-gender participation, the Perth Rams’ Non-Contact Rugby programs are an excellent way to get fit, make new friends, and be part of a supportive rugby community, all while embracing the core values of teamwork and sportsmanship.
